The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) clarified on Wednesday that they are not giving direct money to Filipinos.

The central bank instead stressed that it provides a dividend to the government to contribute to programs that can improve the livelihood of Filipinos.

The statement was made after a group held a protest in front of the BSP on Wednesday morning to claim alleged "hidden money," which according to them belongs to the Filipino people.

Around 1,000 people joined the rally led by a self-proclaimed attorney, Prince Gilbert Salvador.

The group named the protest "Claimant Holder Taker Celebration Day."
